4.5-ish

Dear Jameson,

Hey love!  You're getting so big!  You're 4 and a half (maybe 3/4?) now, and you just grow and change every day.  I thought it would get easier to summarize your time on earth between posts but it's getting harder.  Probably doesn't help that I take so long to update.  You keep me busy, that's my forever excuse, ok?

Let's see.. since last time I wrote, you've done a few pretty major things.

First, you started soccer.  That first team (Crew) was a flop.  Your coach was terrible and you spent the 2 times we went just wanting to go home, through no fault of your own.  So, we pulled you out of there and signed you up for soccer at the YMCA.  The same YMCA that Daddy played soccer for when he was little!  Your coach is Carlos Garcia and he's pretty great with you.  You actually scored your very first goal EVER at your last game, that was so awesome!!  You were so proud of yourself.

We went camping for the first time a few weeks ago, and of course you had an absolute blast.  We went to Oma and Opa's property in Lake George, which hopefully will be our property some day.  You named it J Mountain, very fitting.  We hiked, and played and cooked steaks and potatoes (no plates!), you slept great (me, not so much..), and then we ate scrambled eggs and mountains of bacon for breakfast.  We had to heat our coffee water in a big metal bowl, it wasn't ideal but it worked.  You played in "eel canyon" and we hiked around and fished for a while but the weather got a little crazy.

You have also attended 4 'camps' at the Little Gym!!  That was the first time I have ever left you with anyone other than Daddy, Oma or Opa.  I kept it together pretty well until I dropped you off, and then I shed a tear or two (mostly happy tears!) after I was well out of sight.  You had a blast, and you've loved all of them that you have attended.  The smile on your face when you see me come pick you up is the biggest smile ever, thank you.

You start school on September 4th.  I think I already told you about Cottonwood Preschool, it's a parenting Co-Op, I'll be a helping parent quite a bit.  It's play based curriculum and they really emphasize independence, creativity and FUN!  You'll love it, I'm sure of it.  You'll go M-W-F from 9-12.

We went to the library and you picked out your first books, not surprisingly a bunch by authors you're already familiar with.  We've gone a ton of times before but you weren't interested in picking out books, so this was totally fun!!

Geeze what else.. You eat great, you *were* sleeping great, but lately you have been (supposedly.. not sure) having nightmares about spiders in your bed.  You're super active, and just happy all the time.  One day I asked you why you were such a good boy and you said "because I'm always a good boy" and that's no joke! You're so sweet, as you've always been, so thoughtful (surprisingly so for your age).  You learn quickly, you are easy to smile.  You are really starting to love to be a joker, you love to make other people laugh and smile.  You really want some friends, you love playing with kids.  Everything is going really well in your life :)

Every time I think of you I get so excited, I figure that would wear off or something as you got bigger (don't be offended!), but every day I can't wait for you to wake up so I can see you, I can't wait to get home from work or whatever I'm doing so that I can see your beautiful face.  I love you so much it scares me sometimes, but it's a good scare.

I love you.  Namaste.

Love, Mommy
